Four women use our atelier almost every day of the week.

Germain cleans and weaves the recycled pieces together. She uses patterns to consistently create the same sizes of woven pieces for each bag.

Margaret sews what we call the “sandwiches” together. The sandwiches consist of the woven recycled materials sandwiched in between a piece of plastic repurposed screen mesh and a piece of repurposed fabric, often from local industry waste. Margaret then trims each piece to into an even rectangle.

Myrline hems all four sides of each piece and completes each bag. Myrline has been with k.lynn studio since the beginning and is the most knowledgeable of the RARA process. She is also performing the training session for Aid Medical International, who work with street children and adolescents (read this blog).

Manousheka then hand stitches sequins to the edges of the bags.
